Mainframe Studios stands as a defining creative hub in Des Moines, and Heartland Finishes played a key role in bringing its exterior to life. Working in close collaboration with operational leadership, artists, and development partners, the team executed a full exterior paint scope that reflects the energy and purpose of the building within.

Backed by a $15 million capital campaign, Mainframe transformed its structure into a fully renovated, multi-level creative space. Since opening its first floor in 2017, it has grown into a vibrant community of 180 studios supporting more than 220 artists across 30 disciplines.

Designed as a financially self-sustaining nonprofit, Mainframe ensures long-term stability for the creative community. This project wasn’t just about finishing surfaces – it was about contributing to a space built to endure, where artists can create, collaborate, and thrive in the heart of the city for generations to come.
