Heartland Door & Frame, Inc. is seeking a Cost Estimator for our Des Moines office.
JOB DUTIES
01 / Project Manual/Project Specification – Review the project bid documents for project date, type of bidding system, bid bond, bid forms, scope of work, contact information, bid packages, etc.
02 / Review Project Plans/Specification for complete scope of work, material requirements, installation requirements, keying requirements, etc.
03 / Scope of work review will include quantities, material types, sizes, elevations, hardware groups – creating if not provided, detailing, coordination, warranty information, suggestions for materials that are not coordinated, and an overall complete and functioning door package system.
04 / Estimating Software Use – complete quantity take-off, product selection, frame and door builder, toad software & stock list to select materials, enter accurate pricing, discounts, freight, tax, shipping/delivery, mark up. Use software for products changes, change orders, changes in scope, modifications to the scope of work at owner/architect request.
05 / Communication with owners, architects, customers, vendors, sub-contractors, suppliers – communicate with all parties to develop, review and finalize the scope of work, discuss schedule, price, cost impacts from decisions. Attend jobsite visits, walk-thrus, and project meetings as required to stay current with scope of work and any changes to the scope of work.
06 / Education & Training – on-the-job, DHI online courses, vendor/manufacturer education sessions, software training, general computer, website, internet, price book training.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Math, or related field
