Nic Merfeld

GENERAL MANAGER – EASTERN IOWA

I received my Business Management degree from Iowa State University, and am a member of the American Society of Professional Estimators. As a member of the Young Professionals of Des Moines, I am involved in the Greater Des Moines community.

I volunteer at the Special Olympics in Ames every summer, and also enjoy traveling hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and pretty much anything outdoors. I cheer for the cardinal and gold. Go Cyclones! Independence, Iowa is my hometown, where my parents, brother, and sister live on our family farm, along with full-time farm manager Duke, our chocolate lab.

I feel fortunate to be a member of the Heartland family, which is full of motivated people striving to make themselves and everyone around them better.

Our operations family has a diverse skillset that brings the expertise needed to provide innovative solutions in all aspects of the commercial construction industry. The skills and dedication that our operations family brings to the table allow us to build and maintain strong relationships with the clients we serve.

Heartland was founded on hardworking Midwestern values in 2002, and since then, we’ve grown to become one of Iowa’s premier finishing subcontractors. Our goal to consistently exceed our customer’s expectations is only possible due to the dedication and expertise our team members provide day in and day out. We pride ourselves on providing a safe workplace where everyone can “hang their hat,” knowing that we are always there to take care of each other while reinforcing a culture of respect and autonomy.
